Basadi in music awards expands to two nights – honouring excellence & evolution in music

For the first time ever, the prestigious Basadi in Music Awards will unfold across two incredible nights, marking a new chapter in the platform’s ever-growing legacy of recognizing and empowering women in the music industry.

On Night 1, the Vanguard Awards will take centre stage—an exclusive, invite-only evening dedicated to honouring the vital technical and behind-the-scenes contributors who shape the industry. This night will spotlight categories such as Artist Manager of the Year and Radio Producer of the Year, acknowledging the visionaries and industry powerhouses who fuel the success of South Africa’s musical landscape.

On Night 2, the grand Music Award Night will celebrate the women at the forefront of music—artists, performers, and creatives who continue to break barriers and inspire generations. Tickets for Night 2 are available for purchase, allowing fans and supporters to witness this extraordinary celebration first hand.

A Celebration of the Four Elements

Both nights will carry the powerful theme: “Symphony of Harmony – Four Elements of Nature”, symbolizing the balance, transformation, and interconnected energy of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.

Each element represents the dynamic force within creativity:

  • Earth – Strength, foundation, and timeless elegance
  • Water – Fluidity, grace, and adaptability
  • Fire      – Passion, energy, and fierce determination
  • Air       – Freedom, movement, and boundless innovation

Guests are encouraged to embrace the theme through their glamorous attire, using colour, texture, and statement fashion pieces to embody the essence of their chosen element. Whether it’s flowing blues for Water, rich emerald tones for Earth, fiery reds for Fire, or airy silvers and pastels for Air, this is the perfect opportunity to express creativity and individuality while celebrating female excellence.

Speaking on this monumental expansion, Founder and CEO Hloni Modise Matau shared:

“The growth of Basadi in Music Awards is a testament to the increasing recognition of women’s influence in both creative and technical fields. Expanding to two nights allows us to shine an even brighter light on those working tirelessly behind the scenes while maintaining the grand celebration of musical excellence.”

This evolution has been celebrated by key partners who have walked the journey with Basadi in Music Awards:

Xoliswa Nduneni, CEO of Joburg Theatre, shared:

Seeing  Basadi in Music Awards expand to two nights is a powerful statement that women’s contributions, both on stage and behind the scenes, are valued. Sofnfree’s Marketing Manager, Lerato Selepe Tikwayo, added:
